The oscilloscope

The oscilloscope is one of the central feedback channels of the eSense App: it displays your readings as a continuous curve over time. This lets you recognise trends and reactions immediately. This article explains the most important settings of the oscilloscope feedback channel.

Time window (X axis)

The “X-axis time length” option determines which time span is shown at once. A shorter window shows more detail, a longer one shows more of the trend. Mindfield recommends around 90 seconds.

Curve smoothing

With “Oscilloscope curve smoothing” you smooth the measurement curve in steps from 1 (barely) to 10 (very strong). Stronger smoothing calms the display, while less smoothing reveals finer fluctuations.

Appearance and colours

You can adjust the appearance: the colour of the graph axis, the colour of the measurement curve (line colour), and the two background colours of the oscilloscope (gradient). Use “Reset to default colours” to restore the default setting.

Scale lock

With the scale lock you keep the axis scaling constant, so that the scale is not automatically readjusted during the measurement. This makes it easier to compare over time. Since version 8 of the eSense App, the scale lock also works in full screen and in procedures.

Full screen

You can display the oscilloscope in full screen to see the curve larger and without the surrounding controls.

As a building block in training sequences, the oscilloscope also appears in the Overview of the modules (e.g. as an oscilloscope variant with a breathing pacer).
